Welcome to our Website

This website was constructed by volunteers; engaged members with a passion for the outdoors and especially Killarney Provincial Park and its surrounding areas.  In a way, our website captures the essence of the Friends of Killarney Park. We are a dynamic group dedicated to preservation, protection and education of the crown jewel of the Ontario Parks system. Our volunteer Board of Directors display a passion for the park and give many hours of effort to make your experience in Killarney Park a treasured memory. Contact us if you would like to get involved. Please spend some time on our website learning about our programs and projects such as “Art in the Park”, Graffiti Removal Project”, Naturalist Pack Program”, “Campground Rehabilitation”, and the original “Park Once Challenge”. Our interactive photo gallery provides you an opportunity to share your experiences by posting some of your favorite photographs.

I would like to invite you to visit the land of windswept pines and whaleback rocks, immortalized by the Group of Seven. During your stay in Killarney, be sure to participate in some of the many interpretive educational programs conducted by energetic Ontario Parks staff.  Check out the Friends Outpost, online or in person and find out how you may become involved with our group. Use this website to order maps, one our our popular guides, or purchase a t-shirt for a gift.  As a non-profit, we value donations from individuals or businesses who believe in our work. Just look at our sponsor page filled with companies that help with our efforts. I encourage you to support them whenever shopping for supplies. Killarney Provincial Park is opened all year and some of the most tranquil moments, wildlife sightings, and camping adventures take place in the fall and winter months.

As our motto says, “Caring Together”, you will be welcomed with the best northern hospitality around. The Friends will assist you with route planning, where to go on a day hike, or provide you with information on the many great activities and sights in the beautiful town of Killarney.

Sincerely

 Vice-President
Murray O'Brien
Kitchener, ON

“Killarney Provincial Park is a special place to me. The lakes, the trees, the rocks, the wilderness speak to me of my feelings towards family, friends, and country.  I have returned there every year since my first canoe trip in the Park in 1987.  Killarney Park has given me so much.  As a member of the Friends of Killarney Park I have tried to participate in as many park activities as I could over the years: spring clean-up, rehabilitating campsites, planting trees, building bridges, winter activity days, and especially meeting old and new friends.  As a Director of The Friends of Killarney Park I hope I can make the Killarney experience sustainable for many, many visitors for many, many years to come.”

Ron Duncan
Orangeville, ON

The Duncan family love for Killarney dates back to when we first started camping in Killarney in the early 70’s, the days of bailey bridges, and a twisty, narrow road.   Those were the days before Bill Pitfield had the Texaco station outside of town.  The Laundromat was at the Sportsman’s Inn.  We bought blocks of ice from the icehouse at the dock, and fresh baked bread from “the bread lady” in town. The beach at campground “A” had huge tanks, stocked with fish, which were being re introduced to Killarney’s acid damaged lakes.

My brother got married in Killarney. My eldest daughter worked at Killarney Park one summer, and she also got married by the spillway at George Lake. Both my daughters have volunteered for the clean up weekends and the loon surveys.   My mothers 80th birthday was celebrated in Killarney, and attended by 2 of the families (and their children and grandchildren) who we met in Killarney, way back in the 70’s.

’ve been a “Friends” member for years.  I’ve been an avid supporter of the ‘spring clean up and rehab weekend’ for many years.

And now, I have a very important reason to help preserve and protect Killarney Park.  A 4th generation Duncan, my grandson Mason Feeney, born in November ’05, has already been camping and hiking in Killarney Provincial Park.  I want him to enjoy Killarney just as much as we have, and for many years to come.

Ed Piche

I have worked, played, undertaken and supported scientific work in Killarney Provincial Park for over 35 years. It is a place of exceptional beauty within the province of Ontario.

When the opportunity to join the Friends’ Board of Directors was suggested to me, it was a great honour and pleasure, in fact a duty, to join, participate and hopefully contribute.

I look forward to supporting the Friend’s goals of protecting and preserving this very special part of Ontario.
